‘A Pilgrimage’ Opening May 27 in Dobbins Hall Gallery

Southeast Missouri State University’s River Campus in conjunction with the Department of Art announce the opening of “A Pilgrimage” Friday, June 3 in the Dobbins Hall Gallery.

The exhibition will feature collage pieces by Dr. Joni Hand, assistant professor of art history.

A pilgrimage usually refers to a long arduous trip initiated by a religious or spiritual need. However, a pilgrimage can also be a shorter and less complicated journey. They are not always physical, but can be imagined internally or can be initiated through imagery. The purpose of the works in this show is to provide a series of visual moments that together form a map for the viewer’s own pilgrimage.

The exhibition will be open until July 13 with a reception scheduled for Friday, June 3, from 5-9 p.m. in the Dobbins Hallway Gallery in the Kenneth and Jeanine Dobbins River Campus Center on Southeast Missouri State University’s River Campus.
