Air Force Clarinet Quartet Presenting Free Concert at River Campus

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., March 5, 2009 — The Southeast Missouri State University Department of Music is proud to present the U.S. Air Force Band of Mid-America Clarinet Quartet on Tuesday, March 10, at 7:30 p.m. in the Robert F. and Gertrude L. Shuck Music Recital Hall in the Seminary Building on Southeast Missouri State University’s River Campus. This concert is free, and no tickets are required.

The Air Force Clarinet Quartet is a world class, professional, musical quartet performing works from renaissance to contemporary, popular marches and patriotic themes. This performance will consist of arrangements of music by famous composers including Johann Strauss, Jeno Takacs and Johannes Brahms.

The Band of Mid-America Clarinet Quartet is called on to provide music for small military retirements, changes of command, holiday caroling for military and civilian employees and other official military functions.

The group also reaches out to America’s young music students, offering concerts, clinics and masterclasses in wind chamber repertoire and instrumental technique. These performances allow students a unique opportunity to see a professional music group up close and talk to members about music and the U.S. Air Force.
