Alpha Xi Delta Scholarship for Outstanding Women, in Honor of Patricia Lewis Hartzell Established at Southeast

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Sept. 30, 2011 – Frank Hartzell of Washington, Mo., has provided a $500 gift to the Southeast Missouri University Foundation to establish the Alpha Xi Delta Scholarship for Outstanding Women, in Honor of Patricia Lewis Hartzell through the Southeast Missouri University Foundation.

The scholarship will be awarded for the first time in 2012 to an incoming freshman or a current student at Southeast Missouri State University. The scholarship winner will be announced at Alpha Xi Delta’s “Realize Your Potential Tea” on March 11, at the Alpha Xi Delta House.

Incoming freshmen must have a minimum ACT score of 22, and current students must hold a minimum 3.0 grade point average and be active members of Alpha Xi Delta. First preference will be given to female students. All applicants must submit a 500-word essay focusing on how they demonstrate Alpha Xi Delta’s vision of realizing their potential in their ambitions, achievements and everyday life. Essays must be received by Feb. 25. The first place essay winner will receive a $500 scholarship. Along with the scholarship, the winner will also receive a Prom Package, valued up to $250.

Alpha Xi Delta has been helping women realize their potential since 1983. Patricia Hartzell is an alumna initiate of the Gamma Nu chapter. The Gamma Nu chapter of Alpha Xi Delta was founded on the Southeast Missouri State University campus on April 17, 1958.
