American Red Cross Holding Blood Drive Sept. 2 at CBEC

MALDEN, Mo.,

Aug. 24, 2009 – The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive from 3:30 – 7:30 p.m., Sept. 2 at Southeast Missouri State University-Malden in the Harry L. Crisp II Bootheel Education Center (CBEC), 700 N. Douglas.

Healthy individuals who are at least 17 years old and weigh 110 pounds or more are eligible to donate blood.  Sixteen-year-olds with written permission from a parent or guardian are also eligible to donate.  Federal regulations require whole blood donors to wait 56 days between donations.  Platelet donors can donate as many as 24 times a year.  To schedule a blood donation appointment, please call 1-800-GIVE-LIFE (1-800-448-3543) or visit www.americanredcrossblood.org.  Donors should remember to bring positive identification, which they will be asked to present before donating.
