Area Businesses Encouraged to Join Upcoming Women’s Expo

EVT-PowerofWomenCAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Feb. 16, 2016 – Area businesses are encouraged to meet Southeast Missouri State University students, faculty and leaders at the Fifth Annual Power of Women Luncheon and Expo March 30 at the Show Me Center.

“This is an amazing opportunity for southeast Missouri businesses to connect with tomorrow’s talented workforce and leaders,” said Bill Holland, vice president for University Advancement and executive director of the Southeast Missouri University Foundation.

The expo event is scheduled from 10:30-11:45 a.m. followed by a luncheon until 1 p.m. Registration is open until March 9 and is $250 for each exhibitor space. Setup begins at 9 a.m.

The expo allows businesses and services to showcase their opportunities and products. The exhibitor expo space package includes an eight-foot black-skirted table, two individual luncheon tickets and the company name listed on event signage. Additional individual lunch tickets are available for $30.

This year’s luncheon event will feature keynote speaker Dr. Maureen Clancy-May, a native of St. Louis, retired superintendent of Bayless School District and 1979 Southeast graduate. Clancy-May graduated from Southeast Missouri State University with a Bachelor of Science in Education, exceptional child education. She also holds a Master of Education from the University of Missouri-St. Louis, and a doctoral degree in educational administration from Saint Louis University.

Table packages for the luncheon are available for $180 and include six luncheon tickets plus two student ambassador hosts per table.EVT-PowerofWomen

The Power of Women event allows organization to grow their network and increase business, said Holland.

“Last year’s event brought together over 450 women who are professionals, business leaders, philanthropists, Southeast students, faculty and staff,” he said. “This audience is critical for area businesses, since women account for 85 percent of all consumer purchases, control more than 60 percent of all our country’s personal wealth and own 50 percent of firms that generate trillions of dollars in sales. Southeast’s female students and professionals are the future.”

The Power of Women Luncheon and Expo is a collaborative effort of the Southeast Missouri University Foundation, Department of Athletics and Southeast Student Government. Proceeds will benefit scholarships for female students at Southeast.
