CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., March 25, 2010 — More than 400 area high school students from the Southeast District will be on campus Friday, March 26, and Saturday, March 27, to participate in Career Development events.
The students will participate in contests with winners advancing to the state level contests. The contests include: Horses, Poultry, Dairy Foods, Farm Management, Floriculture, Nursery/Landscape, Livestock, Soils, Agronomy, Entomology, Ag Mechanization, Agricultural Sales, Dairy Cattle, Meats, Job Interviews, Ag Issues, FFA Knowledge, Parliamentary Procedure, Forestry, FFA Creed, Prepared Public Speaking, Advanced Prepared Public Speaking, Extemporaneous Speaking and Officer Interviews.
Students will participate in the events at the Show Me Center and Student Recreation Center-North on Friday, as well as some off-campus sites, including the David M. Barton Agriculture Research Center. The remaining contests will be held in Magill Hall, Johnson Hall and the Scully Building on Saturday, as well as some off-campus sites. The Southeast Department of Agriculture has assisted with these events for more than 25 years.
