Athletic Director Candidate Withdraws From Search

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo.,

Dec. 10, 2008 – Timothy Hall, director of athletics at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, has withdrawn from the athletic director search at Southeast Missouri State University.

Hall was scheduled to be at Southeast on Thursday, Dec. 11, for an open forum, which has been cancelled.

Hall indicated to Bill Carr of Carr Sports Associates that it was a personal decision made with his family. Hall told Carr it was fairer to the University to withdraw at this point in the process.   “Personnel searches are a human process and people continue to reflect on their decision throughout the process,” said Kathy Mangels, vice president for finance and administration. “While the committee is disappointed that Mr. Hall chose to withdraw from the search, we are excited about the quality of the two candidates remaining.” John Shafer, former director of athletics at Eastern Kentucky University, another finalist for the athletic director position at Southeast, is on campus today. The community is invited to an open forum with Shafer from 4-4:45 p.m. today in the University Center Party Room.

The other remaining finalist, Michael Waddell, senior associate director of athletics at the University of Cincinnati, is scheduled to visit Southeast on Friday, Dec. 12. The community is invited to an open forum to meet Waddell from 2:30-3:15 p.m. Dec. 12 in the University Center Program Lounge.
