CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Aug. 11, 2010 – Combined auditions for Southeast Missouri State University’s Department of Theatre and Dance’s fall productions, “Once On This Island,” “Blood Wedding” and “In the Boom Boom Room” will be held at 6 p.m. Aug. 24 in the Donald C. Bedell Performance Hall.
The audition for both shows requires 32 bars (ballad or up-tempo) and a 60-second contemporary monologue. Only the 32-bars are needed to audition for “Once On This Island” and only the monologue is needed for the audition of “Blood Wedding” and “In the Boom Boom Room.” In addition, “Once On This Island” auditions will include a separate dance ensemble audition.
The callbacks are scheduled for 6 p.m. Aug. 25. “Once On This Island” callbacks will be in the Donald C. Bedell Performance Hall, and the callbacks for “Blood Wedding” and “In the Boom Boom Room” will be in the Wendy Kurka Rust Flexible Theatre. No preparation is required for the callbacks except for being familiar with scripts to do a cold reading, and dress for movement or dance.
All current and prospective bachelors of fine arts performance majors are required to audition for at least one of the main stage productions, and all performance-based bachelors of arts majors are highly encouraged to audition. Everyone auditioning should dress appropriately and should bring a resume, headshot and music if singing.
