Aug. 11, 2009 — Combined auditions for Southeast Missouri State University’s Department of Theatre and Dance’s fall productions, “Little Shop of Horrors” and “The Children’s Hour” are at 6 p.m. Aug. 25 in the Donald C. Bedell Performance Hall.
If auditioning for both shows 32- bars (ballad, up-tempo, or R&B) and a 60 second contemporary dramatic monologue are needed. Only the 32-bars are needed for the audition of “Little Shop of Horrors” and only the monologue is needed for the audition of “The Children’s Hour.”
The callbacks are scheduled for 6 p.m. Aug. 26. “Little Shop of Horrors” callbacks will be in the Donald C. Bedell Performance Hall and the callbacks for “The Children’s Hour” will be in Wendy Kurka Rust Flexible Theatre. No preparation is required for the callbacks except for being familiar with both scripts to do a cold reading, and dress for movement or dance.
All current and prospective bachelor’s of fine arts performance majors are required to audition for at least one of the main stage productions and all performance-based bachelor’s of art and bachelor’s of science and education majors are highly encouraged to audition. Everyone auditioning should dress appropriately; bring resume, headshot and music if singing.
