Author David Fiedler to Discuss Pows in Missouri during World War II

David Fiedler, author of the book, The Enemy among Us: POWs in Missouri During World War II, will speak at Southeast Missouri State University April 19.

This event, sponsored by Kent Library and the Department of History, is scheduled for 2 p.m. in the University Center Party Room. The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served. Fiedler will sign copies of the book, which will be available for purchase after the presentation.

The book tells the story of more than 15,000 German and Italian prisoners of war, who were held in 30 POW camps across Missouri during World War II.

Fiedler has written for a number of newspapers and magazines, as well as the Associated Press, the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times Syndicate. Fiedler, of St. Louis, also has written for the Missouri Conservationist and Missouri Life magazines.
