CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Nov. 1, 2006 — The Southeast Missouri State University Studio Jazz Ensemble will present its first annual Big Band Dance as a fund raiser for the Southeast jazz program from 7 to 10 p.m. Nov. 17 in the University Center Ballroom.

The featured vocalist for the evening will be Lori Schafer, a member of the voice faculty in the Department of Music at Southeast.  Among the favorite dance music to be featured that evening will be “In The Mood, Pennsylvania 6-500,” and “Little Brown Jug” from the library of the Glenn Miller Orchestra.  Also featured will be such favorites as “Tuxedo Junction, I’m Beginning to See The Light” and “720 in the Books.” A dance globe will be used in the Ballroom and organizers are hoping participants choose to dress for the occasion.

In addition to the fabulous music from the big band era, light refreshments non-alcoholic beverages will be served by Chartwells.

General admission tickets are $7 per person. Faculty, staff and senior citizen tickets are $6 per person, and student tickets are $5 per person.  Get your tickets in advance, though, as all tickets will be $7 at the door.  Tickets are available through the Southeast box office in the lobby of Rose Theatre.   Phone orders using Visa/Mastercard and Discover are accepted.  Please call (573) 651-2265 to order.  For further information, please contact Robert Conger at (573) 651-2398.
