CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo.,
May 6, 2008 – The Department of Recreation Services at Southeast Missouri State University has named Joseph Binkley, a senior from St. Louis, and Amy Guignon, a junior from Brentwood, Mo., student employees of the month for April.
Binkley, who works for intramural sports, was instrumental in field preparations for softball and other outdoor duties, said Troy Vaughn, director of Recreation Services.
“This was an especially busy time due to severe weather that impacted the condition of the playing fields during the month of April,” Vaughn said.
Binkley is an aspiring teacher and baseball coach who also stays busy as a resident assistant in Towers South. He will be an assistant hall director in Residence Life next year.
Guignon, a lifeguard in the new Student Aquatic Center (SAQ), was recognized for her efforts and customer service abilities at the SAQ, Vaughn said. Guignon worked tirelessly covering many shifts and has assisted on numerous occasions with special duties and events within the department. She plans to be an adapted physical education teacher after graduating from Southeast.
The award, given monthly to student employees working with the Department of Recreation Services at Southeast, recognizes outstanding achievement with student employees and the ability to go beyond normal duties.
