Blaylock Receives Ira Meredith Scholarship to Attend SAHEC

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo.,

Oct. 31, 2005 – The Sikeston Lions Club has presented Amy Blaylock of Sikeston, Mo., the $1,000 Ira Meredith Memorial Scholarship to attend the Sikeston Area Higher Education Center (SAHEC).

Blaylock is a sophomore nursing major at SAHEC.

Recipients of the Sikeston Lions ClubᾰIra Meredith Scholarship must be Sikeston residents enrolled in at least nine hours of coursework at SAHEC. Recipients must have good moral character and at least a 2.0 grade point average if they are a recent high school graduate. Recipients who are current SAHEC students must have a 2.5 grade point average. Recipients must provide proof of enrollment in SAHEC classes for the year they are awarded the scholarship. Recipients also must submit an essay of less than 300 words to a selection committee explaining why they want the scholarship.

In addition to the Sikeston Lions Club-Ira Meredith Scholarship, Blaylock is one of two recipients this fall who has received the SAHEC General Scholarship. The SAHEC General Scholarship is open to students enrolled in a minimum of nine hours of coursework at SAHEC who have at least a 2.0 grade point average.
