Southeast Missouri State baseball student-athletes Branden Boggetto and Trevor Ezell have been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Six Team for recognition of their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.
Boggetto, a senior finance major from Joliet, Illinois, has accumulated a 3.31 grade point average throughout his career. Ezell, a sophomore from Alexander, Arkansas, is a business administration major and has a 3.92 cumulative GPA.
Boggetto and Ezell were two of five infielders picked from District 6. In all, the Division I District 6 team includes 12 student-athletes from schools in Arkansas, Iowa, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.
Southeast has had at least two Academic All-District™ team members in each of Steven Beiser‘s four years as head coach. In all, the Redhawks have had 10 all-district honorees in four years.
All honorees will advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
Morehead State starting pitcher Matt Anderson earned a spot on the District 2 team while infielder Josh Bobo from Jacksonville State was picked to the District 4 team.
The Academic All-District™ teams include student-athletes divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. This is the fifth year of the expanded Academic All-America® program as CoSIDA moved from recognizing a University Division (Division I) and a College Division (all non-Division I) and has doubled the number of scholar-athletes honored. The expanded teams include NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II and NCAA Division III participants, while the College Division Academic All-America® Team combines NAIA, Canadian and two-year schools.
