CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Nov. 3, 2010 — Brenda Warner will be the closing keynote speaker for the Women Inspiring eNtrepreneurship (WIN!) Conference on Saturday, Nov. 20, at Southeast Missouri State University.

The WIN! Conference will feature several personal enrichment activities and presentations by successful women entrepreneurs, a lifestyle coach, wellness experts, financial planners, and business/vendor displays.  A highlight of the day will be the closing inspirational presentation by Warner, mother, author, philanthropist, and wife of football icon, Kurt Warner. The WIN! Conference is set for 7:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Dempster Hall at 814 N. Henderson on the campus of Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

Now in its second year, the Women Inspiring eNtrepreneurship Conference will close-out the week-long, Global Entrepreneurship Week activities, which are coordinated by the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE).

“Our Center hosts the WIN! symposium during Global Entrepreneurship Week to connect innovative and entrepreneurial business women locally and across the region,” said CIE Executive Director Dr. James Stapleton. “The WIN! Conference provides enterprising women the opportunity to network, share ideas and learn from other successful women who are making their mark as entrepreneurs.”

“I was honored to perform the keynote address at the WIN! conference last year,” said Jennifer Hendrickson, owner of Hendrickson Business Advisors of Cape Girardeau, “and I can attest that it is a very worthwhile event.”

Gina Harper, WIN! Conference organizer, says women will experience a sensational evening of networking with cocktails, prizes and hors d’oeuvres at the WIN! cocktail reception on Friday, Nov. 19.  This complimentary reception will be held in Kem Statuary Hall in the Wehking Alumni Center at 926 Broadway.  RSVPs for the reception are first-come, first-served, with a limit of 100 participants. The WIN! Conference on Saturday, Nov. 20 is a more casual atmosphere with a sports theme and the registration cost of $10 includes breakfast, snacks, activities and access to the breakout sessions and keynote address.

“The sports theme was chosen long before Brenda Warner was asked to keynote,” Harper said. “However, her background, her outreach work and her life story makes her a perfect choice and we are honored to have her speak at the WIN! Conference.”

“The public probably assumes that because of her husband, the Warner’s have always had fame and fortune,” Harper said. “However, that is just not the case.  I know that Brenda’s story and all of our other entrepreneurial presenters will inspire other women not to give up on their dreams.”

Karen Kibby , owner of  Karing Touch Massage Therapy in Jackson, Mo., attended WIN! in 2009.  She plans to attend again this year as an exhibitor and a participant.

“Participating in the first women’s conference last year was informative, a great way to network, relax a bit and have some fun!” Kibby said.

Both WIN! events are open to the public. Registration can be completed on the link found at www.semo.edu/cie/win.  An agenda, exhibitor information, directions and hotel accommodations can also be found at this website.  If you have registration questions, please contact Glenna Ervin at gervin@semo.edu or (573) 651-2929.
