CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Jan. 28, 2016 — The Catapult Creative House Student Studios will hold their inaugural exhibition, “The Dream Machine: Beyond these Gray Walls,” from 5-9 p.m. Feb. 5 as one of downtown Cape Girardeau’s First Friday events.
The exhibition will be held on the second floor of Catapult at 612 Broadway in Cape Girardeau.
The exhibition will feature the work of eleven Southeast Missouri State University Department of Art student artists. The exhibition will present a body of diverse work that ranges in subject and medium — from ceramics and fibers to portraiture and abstraction.
As part of a program to promote community-based and integrated art making, each of these artists has been awarded studio space at Catapult Creative House. The exhibition will feature work from the individual artists that highlights their personal and professional artistic explorations as a part of the southeast Missouri art community. In addition to the exhibition, visitors are welcome to tour the studio spaces, view ongoing projects, and engage with the artists.
In connection with the exhibition reception, the Catapult Creative House Student Studio artists are proud to present their Studio Pop-Up Shop. This Pop-Up retail space will offer the opportunity for visitors to purchase one-of-a-kind prints, ceramics, handmade books and additional works of art created by the participating artists.
