CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Oct. 5, 2015 – Southeast Missouri State University’s Chamber Music Sundays at Three Series will present this year’s “Chamber Works with Voice” at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 18, in the Robert F. and Gertrude L. Shuck Music Recital Hall at Southeast’s River Campus.
This concert will feature the Southeast voice and instrumental faculty in collaboration as they showcase their best talents.
Lori Shaffer (soprano), Jacqueline Wilson (bassoon) and Matt Yount (piano) will be performing “Of Critics and Music” and “Of Celebration,” two songs from “The Devils Songbook” by Roger C. Vogel.
Christopher Goeke (tenor), Nicholas Kenney (French horn) and Matt Yount (piano), will present “Auf dem Strom (On the River),” Opus 119 by Frank Schubert.
Timothy Schmidt (bass-baritone) and Gabrielle Baffoni (clarinet) will perform from “10 Blake Songs,” by Ralph Vaughan Williams. The song list includes “Ah! Sunflower,” “A Poison Tree,” “Eternity,” “The Shepherd,” “The Lamb” and “The Piper.”
Lori Shaffer (soprano), Leslie Jones (contralto), Chris Goeke (tenor), Timothy Schmidt (bass-baritone) and Matt Yount (piano), will present “Wechsellied zum Tanze” and “Neckereien,” two songs from Drei Quartette, Op. 31, by Johannes Brahms.
Also on the program will be Leslie Jones (contralto), Matt Yount (piano) and Sara Edgerton (cello) performing “Zwei Gesänge” by Johannes Brahms.
