CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo.,

Nov. 1, 2007 – The Southeast Missouri State University Choir, Chamber Choir and Cantus Choralis will perform Purcell’s “Come Ye Sons of Art” as a welcoming ode to the River Campus at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 15 in the Donald C. Bedell Performance Hall at River Campus.

The choral groups will join the percussion ensemble for the Canadian composer John Burge’s “Winter Sun.”  This piece is best described as a choral symphony with elements that will remind the audience of both the beauty and chill of winter.  Most exciting will be the “Kyrie” from Bruckner’s “Mass in E minor.”  This movement, accompanied by brass, is a most powerful statement of faith using a harmonic language that is both neo-Wagnerian and unique in choral literature.

Tickets for the concert are $7 for the general public, $6 for faculty, staff and senior citizens and $1 for Southeast students. Tickets are available at the River Campus Box Office by calling (573) 651-2265 or at the door one hour prior to the performance.
