Contemporary Artists Showcase Their Work in ‘Chroma Exploda’

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Aug. 26, 2013 – “Chroma Exploda: Contemporary Paintings” will showcase the artwork of five contemporary artists beginning Sept. 6 at 4 p.m. in the River Campus Art Gallery of Southeast Missouri State University.

This exhibit, funded with a grant from the Missouri Arts Council, will be on display through Sept. 26. An artist’s talk is scheduled from 4-5 p.m. Sept. 6 with a reception to follow from 5-7 p.m.

Southeast’s Justin Henry Miller, assistant professor of painting, will curate the exhibit. The five artists to be featured in the exhibit are Molly Briggs, Chris Kahler, Martina Nehrling, Renee Robbins and Jackie Tileston.

“Miller has curated an amazing exhibition that displays contemporary approaches to abstraction using vibrant color by five painters who regularly exhibit in highly regarded galleries across the country,” said Kristin Powers Nowlin, the Gallery coordinator. “We are extremely fortunate to have them exhibit at the River Campus Art Gallery.”

The River Campus Art Gallery is located on the first floor of the historic Seminary Building in Room 106.

River Campus Art Gallery hours for this exhibit are 1-5 p.m. Monday through Friday, 1-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, and 1-7 p.m. on First Fridays.
