Course on Developing a Family Child Care Business Being Offered this Fall

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo.,

Aug. 15, 2007 – A course to help individuals develop a family child care business is being offered this fall at Southeast Missouri State University.

The training course, titled “Developing Your Family Child Care Business,” will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday evenings beginning Sept. 4 at the Child Care Resource and Referral office located at 621 N. Fountain Street. Child Care Resource and Referral is sponsoring the course with funding from the Missouri Department of Social Services.

The course is designed to help existing and potential family child care providers create a business plan and parent handbook. The curriculum helps providers merge their desire to provide care for children with their need to do it as a viable business. The program will help providers think and act as a business owner and help them build a sustainable business that serves their own needs and the needs of the community.

Child care providers who participate in the course will become part of an expanded network of business community connections. They also will have the opportunity to attend other early childhood trainings.

For more information on the training, call Child Care Resource and Referral at (573) 290-5644 or 1 (800) 811-1127, Ext. 3.
