Crisp Museum Featuring Kaneko Exhibit, History Gallery on ‘First Friday’

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Oct. 22, 2010 – The Rosemary Berkel and Harry L. Crisp II Museum will have extended hours on Friday, Nov. 5, as it features the “Jun Kaneko” exhibit and its history gallery as part of the monthly “Around Town First Friday with the Arts” program.

The museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. to allow patrons to visit the history gallery and ‘Jun Kaneko’ art exhibit.

The self titled exhibition “Jun Kaneko” is an extensive representation of Kaneko’s work with many mediums including glass, textile, bronze, paper and canvas. Kaneko, a resident of Omaha, Neb., is known for his technical and innovative work, and the exhibition is a compilation of two decades of his work with ceramic sculpture, drawings and paintings.

‘First Friday’ is a partnering of studios and galleries in Cape Girardeau in an effort to provide the city with a monthly arts venue. Many local art galleries have shows open on the first Friday of each month with local, regional and national artists displaying their artistic and diverse mediums. Several galleries provide light refreshments, and all visitors are encouraged to visit the studios and galleries during the monthly event.

The museum is located in the Cultural Arts Center at the River Campus, located at 518 S. Fountain Street in Cape Girardeau.
