Debate and Art Join to Form Art Slam at Southeast

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo.,

Oct. 8, 2009 – Have you ever watched “American Gladiator,” “Throwdown,” “Wipeout” or “Talk Soup?” Combine all of these with art, and the result is Art Slam. The first of four performances is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Oct. 22 at Southeast Missouri State University’s River Campus.

Art Slam is a lively debate and performance between two individuals centered on an exhibition in the Greene Gallery at the Rosemary Berkel and Harry L. Crisp Museum II in the Cultural Arts Center on the River Campus.  Hear from faculty, colleagues and friends as they debate an exhibition in relation to their own disciplines.  Audience members also are encouraged to participate in the debate.

Future Art Slam events are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. April 15, 2010, Oct. 21, 2010 and Feb. 3, 2011.

No art background is required to participate. All faculty, staff and community members may apply.
