April 29, 2010 – Kenneth W. Dobbins, president of Southeast Missouri State University, will be honored June 5 with the highest award bestowed upon a Boy Scout volunteer.

Dobbins will receive the Silver Beaver Award at the annual meeting of the Greater St. Louis Council, Boy Scouts of America. The meeting will be held at The Living World at the St. Louis Zoo.

The Silver Beaver is the highest award a Scout volunteer can receive from a local Council. Silver Beaver recipients must be either registered as a Boy Scout leader in the Council or be a high profile community leader. They also must have rendered noteworthy service of exceptional character to youth and served youth and the community outside of Scouting.

Dobbins is vice president of the Executive Board of the Greater St. Louis Council, Boy Scouts of America, and has served in this capacity for nine years.

“I am deeply honored to be associated with the St. Louis Boy Scout Council and humbled in receiving this award,” Dobbins said. “I look forward to continuing to be a part of the council and helping to provide opportunities in Boy Scouting throughout our region.”
