CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Aug. 21, 2015 – The Dr. Ann and Archie Sprengel Endowed Scholarship has been established through the Southeast Missouri University Foundation.
Dr. Ann and Archie Sprengel of Cape Girardeau made a generous gift to establish the scholarship, which was matched through the Faculty/Staff component of the Honoring Tradition – Inspiring Success Comprehensive Campaign through the Southeast Missouri University Foundation.
The renewable scholarship will be awarded to a student enrolled at Southeast Missouri State University who is currently in or has been accepted into the undergraduate Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program but excludes students enrolled in the online RN-BSN program. Students must have a minimum 2.8 grade point average and demonstrated financial need. The Department of Nursing Scholarship Committee will select the recipient.
Dr. Ann Sprengel is retired from Southeast Missouri State University after 34 years of teaching in the Department of Nursing. In addition to her teaching, she served several years as the department’s director of undergraduate studies. Dr. Sprengel received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Southeast, Master of Science in Nursing from Saint Louis University, and doctoral degree in education from the University of Memphis.
Archie Sprengel retired from Southeast after 36 years at the University. He served as assistant vice president of information technology. He is a graduate of Southeast and Purdue University.
