Dr. Jerry L. Kinder Scholarship Endowed at Southeast

StudentsCAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Jan. 9, 2013 — The Dr. Jerry L. Kinder Scholarship has been endowed through the Southeast Missouri University Foundation.

The scholarship was established with a $50,000 gift by Mr. and Mrs. David Kinder in honor of David’s father, Dr. Jerry L. Kinder.

The recipient of the scholarship will be a student enrolled at Southeast Missouri State University majoring in science with at least a 3.0 grade point average and financial need. Preference will be given to a student residing in southeast Missouri within a 125-mile radius of Cape Girardeau. The University Scholarship Committee will select the recipient.

David Kinder was born and raised in Cape Girardeau, attended Central High School and graduated from Texas Christian University in 1996.

His father, Dr. Jerry L. Kinder, was also born and raised in Cape Girardeau. He is a 1957 alumnus of Southeast and attended medical school at the University of Tennessee. Dr. Jerry L. Kinder was a general surgeon in Cape Girardeau who dedicated his life to serving the needs of patients throughout southeast Missouri. Dr. Jerry L. Kinder has received the Alumni Merit Award and the Distinguished Service Award from the Southeast Alumni Association. In addition, he also serves on the Southeast Missouri University Foundation Board of Directors.
