Chris Kahler

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Feb. 23, 2015 — The River Campus Art Gallery of Southeast Missouri State University will display “Chris Kahler: Emanations” beginning March 9.

A reception is scheduled from 5-7 p.m. March 6, and a juror lecture will be held April 1 from noon-1 p.m. The exhibition will be on display through March 31. The gallery will be closed the week of Spring Break, March 16-20.

Chris Kahler is a professor of painting and drawing as well as the graduate coordinator for the Department of Art at Eastern Illinois University (EIU). His solo exhibition in the River Campus Art Gallery will feature his abstract and vividly colored paintings. Kahler also is serving as the juror for the Department of Art’s Annual Juried Student Exhibition in April at the River Campus.

“We were able to show a few of his pieces last year in a group exhibition, so the students and faculty are excited to see a gallery full of his amazing work,” said Kristin Powers Nowlin, gallery coordinator.

The River Campus Art Gallery is located on the first floor of the historic Seminary Building in Room 106.

River Campus Art Gallery hours are 1-5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 1-7 p.m. on First Fridays. All gallery exhibitions, events and talks are free and open to the public. For more information, contact Gallery Coordinator Powers Nowlin at rcgallerycoordinator@semo.edu or (573) 651-5901.
