English Professor, Podiatrist to Debate Ansel Adams Exhibit

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., April 9, 2010 — The Rosemary Berkel and Harry L. Crisp II Museum presents the second ART SLAM, between Dr. Christopher Rieger, professor of English, and Dr. Zenon Duda, podiatrist, April 15 in the museum.

Art Slam is a lively debate/performance centered on an exhibition between two individuals from different backgrounds.   Rieger and Duda’s debate will center on the current exhibition, “Ansel Adams: Masterworks.” Audience members are encouraged to participate in the debate.

The public is invited to the event scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 15.

“Ansel Adams: Masterworks” includes 48 photographs that Adams himself selected as representative of his best work. Called “The Museum Set,” it reveals the importance Adams placed on the drama and splendor of natural environments that might not, to the ordinary passing hiker, have revealed their secrets.

The exhibit is organized by the Turtle Bay Exploration Park, Redding, Calif., with exhibition tour management by Landau Traveling Exhibitions, Los Angeles, Calif. The Rosemary Berkel and Harry L. Crisp II Museum is the sponsor of this exhibition and Art Slam event.  Financial assistance for this exhibition has been provided by the Missouri Arts Council, a state agency.

The Rosemary Berkel and Harry L. Crisp II Museum is located in the Cultural Arts Center at Southeast Missouri State University’s River Campus, 518 S. Fountain St., Cape Girardeau, Mo.  For additional information, e-mail museum@semo.edu or call (573) 651-2260.
