Faculty Exhibition Opens May 6 in Crisp Museum

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., May 2, 2011 — The Rosemary Berkel and Harry L. Crisp II Museum will host the Biannual Faculty Exhibition opening May 6.

The exhibition will showcase the work produced by the talented faculty members in Southeast’s Department of Art.  It will feature ceramics, paintings, prints, drawings, sculpture, and multimedia works by the faculty. The show will on remain on display through June 26.

The content and subject matter displayed in the exhibition are as varied as the materials used in the art.  Themes include identity through art, evolving personal narratives and the process of transforming a reality into a metaphor.  The pieces of art encourage the viewer and the artist to continue to nurture the creative process

An opening reception for the artists will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. May 6 for which the public is invited to attend. Refreshments will be served.

The museum is located in the Cultural Arts Center at Southeast Missouri State University’s River Campus, located at 518 S. Fountain Street in Cape Girardeau. Museum hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday-Friday and 1 to 4 p.m. on weekends.
