CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., July 15, 2013 — A fire was extinguished on the roof of Robert A. Dempster Hall Monday, July 15, at Southeast Missouri State University.

The fire was reported at 1:37 p.m. and was extinguished in 15 minutes. The building was safely evacuated, and there were no injuries.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

It is believed the damage was limited to the roof, but the building is closed and an assessment is being conducted of the damage.

There will be no classes in the building on Tuesday, and Dempster employees should not report to work.

Dempster Hall was dedicated in September 1996. It is home to the Donald L. Harrison College of Business.
