First-Day Spring Semester Enrollment Up 2.9 Percent at Southeast

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Jan. 20, 2011 — Total enrollment at Southeast Missouri State University is up 2.9 percent, according to a preliminary report compiled after the first full day of classes of the spring 2011 semester.

Classes at Southeast began Jan. 18.

Combined undergraduate and graduate student headcount is 10,101, up from 9,820 at this time last year. In addition, the combined undergraduate and graduate student full-time equivalency is up 5.2 percent from this time a year ago.

Dr. Debbie Below, assistant vice president for Enrollment Management and director of Admissions at Southeast Missouri State University, said total enrollment is up 281 over first-day spring 2010 figures and up 712 over first day spring 2009.

“Undergraduate enrollments are up 318 over spring 2010 and up 706 over spring 2009,” Below said.

Total undergraduate student enrollment stands at 9,091. Total graduate student headcount is 1,010.

International student headcount is 565, up from 398 in spring 2010.

Transfer student headcount is 317, about the same as last year’s 320 count.

The official census report will be issued in four weeks.
