Floral Oil Painting Workshop to be Offered at Crisp Museum

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Nov. 16, 2011 – The Rosemary Berkel and Harry L. Crisp II Museum at Southeast Missouri State University’s River Campus is offering floral oil painting workshops for adults from 9 a.m. to noon Nov. 22 and 29 and Dec. 6 and 13.

Artist and teacher Cleda Curtis-Neal will conduct the workshops, which are intended for beginning and advanced artists. Lessons will include:

·  Shape and line identification

·  Mixing oils and creating values

·  Light, highlight, reflected light

·  Midtones, shadow, cast shadow

·  Creating form and color gradients

Cleda Curtis-Neal became internationally known for her book, “Portrait Painting Simplified,” which was published in 1988. She earned a Bachelor of Arts from University of the Ozarks and a Master of Arts from Portland State University. She also has studied under respected portrait artists Daniel Greene and John Howard Sanden. She owns and operates a private art school and has been teaching painting since 1970.

Seating for the workshops is limited, and registration is required. Participants are responsible for their own art supplies.
