CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Feb. 24, 2014 – Southeast Missouri State University’s online MBA program has been ranked #1 in affordability among AACSB online MBA programs in the country by GetEducated.com, a consumer group that reviews and ranks online universities for cost, quality, and credibility.
Southeast’s online Master of Business Administration (MBA)/General Management program was independently reviewed and ranked by GetEducated.com as a “Best Buy” for students seeking a high quality, low-cost online MBA degree. This is the second time for Southeast’s online MBA program to be ranked #1 in affordability by GetEducated.com.
“I am pleased with this external validation of what is a high priority for the Harrison College of Business — offering affordable high quality online programs, including the online MBA program, the online Master of Science in Organizational Management program and the online Bachelor of Science in Business Administration program,” said Dr. Gerald McDougall, dean of Southeast’s Donald L. Harrison College of Business. “These programs are taught by our regular faculty with standards and expectations equivalent to our business programs offered through a traditional format. Harrison business faculty members are committed to excellence and student learning. The number one national ranking speaks to our success in achieving this goal.”
GetEducated.com surveyed 93 business schools to develop their fact-based, data-driven affordability ranking of AACSB online MBA degrees. GetEducated “Best Buy” rankings list the most affordable degree programs among 64 AACSB online MBA programs all under $36,000.
Southeast is ranked the number one Best Buy, charging $9,669 for residents and $16,814 for out-of-state students. Non-Missouri residents nationwide who are active duty military or veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces including members of the National Guard or Reserves, their spouses and dependents also are eligible for in-state tuition fees.
Southeast’s online MBA program is the only Missouri institution among the 64 listed AACSB online MBA programs under $36,000 ranked by GetEducated.com.
The rankings were calculated by comparing tuition and online learning fees at 93 AACSB accredited online universities in the United States that offer 147 distance MBA degrees. GetEducated reviewed and ranked the least expensive online MBAs for students who want or need to attend an AACSB accredited online business school. To appear on a GetEducated Best Buy list for online learning affordability, MBA programs profiled must objectively cost less than the average cost of all the distance master’s degrees surveyed in the comprehensive, national data set.
“Cost is the number 1 factor that keeps working Americans from enrolling in higher education. Southeast Missouri State’s Harrison College of Business offers Missouri residents a high-quality MBA degree through online learning for about one-quarter the cost of the national average. That’s an amazing value,” says Vicky Phillips, GetEducated.com’s founder who has been researching and comparing online MBA degrees since 1989.
Researchers at Get Educated used objective cost data and fees to determine that the Southeast Missouri online is the #1 most affordable such online MBA in the country. “Students who reside outside Missouri will also find SEMO a bargain,” says Phillips. “Non-residents wishing to enroll in SEMO will pay less than half the cost of peer online MBA programs that are AACSB accredited, yet sacrifice nothing in terms of quality. In return, students will gain access to a business school that carries AACSB accreditation, an accreditation standard most executives consider the gold standard for a business education.”
Like many online degree programs offered by public universities, Harrison College of Business’s MBA offers the same courses with the same faculty as their long-standing residential MBA program. “The exact same business education is being taught on campus as online,” says Phillips,” the difference: it’s being delivered in a new, more convenient technology-enriched format.”
“The university’s repetitive appearance on the Best Buy MBA ranking list indicates that the school offers a high quality online business education at an affordable cost for learners locally as well as nationwide. SEMO is a great bargain at a time when the cost of a college degree has reached critically high levels for working Americans. The Harrison College of Business’ adaption of technology to deliver high quality, affordable online degrees marks the school as a laudable leader among top business schools in North America,” says Phillips.
According to GetEducated.com, the most expensive degree is the Master of Business Administration/Global Executive from Duke University, which costs $145,050.
“A GetEducated Best Buy award indicates your online learning program has been independently reviewed and found to offer a high quality AACSB accredited online MBA at a cost that ranks well below the national average,” said Melissa Eubank, director of Information Services with GetEducated.com.
She says GetEducated.com’s mission is to help consumers get educated about the best online degrees for cost and credibility.
“We’re delighted to help MBA professionals nationwide get educated about your program’s unique affordable offerings,” she said.
