Glenn Miller Orchestra to Provide ‘Swingin’ Good Time’ at River Campus

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo.,

Sept. 29, 2010 – The Glenn Miller Orchestra will visit Southeast Missouri State University’s River Campus Oct. 15 to bring back the music of the Big Band Era.  The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Donald C. Bedell Performance Hall located in the Cultural Arts Center.

The world famous Glenn Miller Orchestra is the most popular and sought after big band in the world today for both concert and swing dance audiences.  Originally formed in 1937, the Orchestra became very popular and recorded a number of chart successes, including the ever-popular, “Moonlight Serenade,” “Chattanooga Choo Choo” and “(I’ve Got a Gal in) Kalamazoo.”

With its unique jazz sound, the Glenn Miller Orchestra is considered to be one of the greatest bands of all time, and continues to record and perform today.  Currently, trombonist Larry O’Brien leads the touring band, which plays an average of 300 live dates a year all around the world.
