Graduating BFA Students’ Artwork Presented in Four Exhibitions to end Spring Semester

Southeast Missouri State University’s River Campus Art Gallery will display work from students in the Department of Art in the 2017 Graduating Seniors Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) Exhibitions April 16-May 11.

The first exhibition runs April 16-20 with a reception from 5-7 p.m. April 20. The next exhibition will be on display April 23-27 with a reception from 5-7 p.m. on April 27. The third exhibition will be on display April 30- May 4 with the closing reception scheduled for 5-7 p.m. May 4. The fourth and final exhibition will be open from May 7-11 with the closing reception from 5-7 p.m. on May 11.

“We really think of our gallery as an educational space for these students,” said Justin Miller, associate professor and exhibitions coordinator. “In addition to creating an original body or artwork for their exhibition, students are also introduced to the components necessary to putting on a show, including installation and the responsibilities for all the promotional material and reception.”

Works presented are in ceramics, digital art, graphic design, illustration, painting, printmaking and sculpture, representing the broad expanse of Southeast’s art programs and the creativity of its students.

All exhibitions and receptions will be in the River Campus Art Gallery, which is located on the first floor of the historic Seminary Building in Room 106.

River Campus Art Gallery hours are 1-5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 1-7 p.m. on First Fridays. All gallery exhibitions, events and talks are free and open to the public. For more information, contact Justin Miller at or (573) 651-2865.
