CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., April 4, 2016 – The River Campus Art Gallery at Southeast Missouri State University will present four exhibitions of works created by the talented emerging artists in the Department of Art at the 2016 Graduating Seniors Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) Exhibitions April 18- May 13.
The first of the four exhibitions will run from April 18-22, with a closing reception scheduled for 5-7 p.m. April 22. The next exhibition will be displayed April 25-29. Its closing reception is scheduled for 5-7 p.m. April 29. The third exhibition will be displayed May 2-6, with a closing reception scheduled for 5-7 p.m. May 6. The final exhibition will be open May 9-13. Its closing reception is scheduled for 5-7 p.m. May 13.
Works presented are in ceramics, digital art, graphic design, illustration, painting, printmaking and sculpture, representing the broad expanse of Southeast’s art programs and the creativity of its students.
“This spring we have four, one-week shows for the BFA Exhibitions so that each graduating senior has plenty of room to display the body of work they developed throughout their last two semesters of coursework in their area of specialization,” said Justin Miller, Gallery coordinator.
These exhibitions will display pieces from the various areas of emphasis in the Department of Art. They are clear evidence of dedicated studio practice and rigorous, creative and academic investigation. The emerging artists showcased in these exhibits demonstrate a college career’s worth of accrued knowledge, artistic exploration and rigorous critique, and a strong focus on professional goals.
The exhibitions are culminations of years of fine arts study at Southeast and show that fostering and challenging the creative process can produce successful, accomplished bodies of work.
All exhibitions and receptions will be in the River Campus Art Gallery, which is located on the first floor of the historic Seminary Building in Room 106.
River Campus Art Gallery hours are 1-5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 1-7 p.m. on First Fridays. All gallery exhibitions, events and talks are free and open to the public. For more information, contact Powers Nowlin at firstname.lastname@example.org or (573) 651-2865.
