The Department of Music at Southeast will present the Southeast Guitar Ensemble in concert at 7:30 p.m. May 7 in the Robert F. and Gertrude L. Shuck Music Recital Hall in the Seminary Building at the River Campus.
The concert is open to the public. Tickets are available from the River Campus Box Office or at the door.
The Southeast Guitar Ensemble, directed by Patrick Rafferty, is comprised of music students majoring in classical guitar at the University. The full Guitar Ensemble will open the program with a “Prelude” by the contemporary American composer Michael Adamczyk. Other ensemble pieces on the program include trios by the Argentine composer Celso Machado and an arranged madrigal by the Renaissance composer Giovanni Ferreti. Solo guitarists will offer a variety of works including Renaissance music by John Dowland and Luis Milan, Baroque music by Sylvius Weiss, and contemporary Latin pieces by Heitor Villa Lobos and Leo Brouwer. The concert will conclude with an exciting work by the contemporary Argentine guitarist Maximo Pujol.
