CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Nov.19, 2004 — The Department of Music at Southeast Missouri State University will present the Southeast Guitar Ensemble in concert at 8 p.m. Dec. 6 in the Lutheran Chapel, located at the corner of Pacific and College Hill on the campus.
The concert is open to the public and is free.
The concert features performances for classical guitar in a variety of combinations. The Southeast Guitar Trio will perform two excerpts from Manuel de Falla’s Spanish opera, “The Three-Cornered Hat,” as well as a modern milonga and tango by the Argentine composer, Máximo Pujol. Members of the Guitar Ensemble will be joined by other music students for chamber works featuring the guitar. These pieces include Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco’s “Fantasia” for guitar and piano and English Renaissance duos for voice and guitar. A student string quartet will perform one of Luigi Boccherini’s “Quintets for Strings and Guitar.”
