CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., April 18, 2007 — On Thursday, May 3, 2007, the Department of Music at Southeast Missouri State University will present the Southeast Guitar Ensemble in concert at 7:30 p.m. May 3 in Brandt Hall Room 205.
The concert is free and open to the public.
The concert will feature performances by music students majoring in classical guitar at the University. The full guitar ensemble will open the program with a set of Renaissance dances by Tielman Susato. Other large ensemble works include a trio by Leonard von Call, an early classical guitarist, and four-part fugue by J.S. Bach. Solo guitarists will offer a variety of works including Fernando Sor’s famous “Variations of a Theme” by Mozart. The concert will conclude with an exciting prelude and tango by the contemporary Argentine guitarist Maximo Pujol.
