‘Hairspray’ National Tour Comes to River Campus

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Feb. 17, 2009 – It’s time to let your hair down and dance the night away. “Hairspray,” Broadway’s musical comedy phenomenon that inspired a major motion picture, is coming to Southeast Missouri State University’s River Campus on March 8, with two shows at 2:30 and 7:30 p.m.

The performances will be held in the Donald C. Bedell Performance Hall located in the Cultural Arts Center.

“This show is part of the River Campus Touring Series, bringing the exact same companies to southeast Missouri that perform in St. Louis, Chicago, or other parts of the country. Fortunately, area residents can now see these top-quality performances without driving hours away,” said Robert Cerchio, assistant director for the River Campus, who booked the event.

“Hairspray” is a fantastically fun musical and winner of eight 2003 Tony Awards including Best Musical. The production is currently enjoying its fifth year on Broadway.
