Feb. 22, 2010 – Paul Thompson, instructor of music and applied flute, will present a flute masterclass on Sunday, March 14, from 2-4 p.m.  The event will be held in the Robert F. and Gertrude L. Shuck Music Recital Hall on the River Campus of Southeast Missouri State University.

“The event is essentially a clinic in which flute participants in the High School District Solo and Ensemble Contest can polish their pieces prior to the event,” Thompson said.  “The masterclass is open to any interested high school student in the district.”

The session will be comprised of a presentation on performance anxiety and then private coachings with Thompson and other flute specialists.

The cost is $10 per participant, and the deadline for registration is Wednesday, March 10.  For further information, please visit the Department of Music’s Web site at http://www.semo.edu/music/index.htm or e-mail pthompson@semo.edu.
