Holden Appoints Jeffery to Southeast Board of Regents

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo.,

Jan. 5, 2004 – India Jeffery of North St. Louis County in St. Louis, Mo., has been appointed by Missouri Gov. Bob Holden as the student representative to the Southeast Missouri State University Board of Regents.

Jeffery is a junior majoring in nursing and serves as the program advisor in the Office of Minority Student Programs at Southeast. She is president of the Association of Black Collegians, a mentor in the Peer Mentor Program and a Presidential Ambassador. She has participated in Southeast’s Emerging Leaders program, is an orientation leader and served on the McNair Search Committee. A graduate of Hazelwood East High School, Jeffery was awarded the DeVerne Calloway Scholarship and Minority Student Matching Success Award.

Jeffery will replace Laura Hockensmith, whose term on the Board has expired. The two-year appointment is subject to confirmation by the Missouri Senate.
