‘InnovateHER’ Local Competition Comes to Southeast’s SBTDC

The Small Business and Technology Development Center (SBTDC) at Southeast Missouri State University is hosting a local first-round contest for the U.S. Small Business Administration’s 2017 “InnovateHER: Innovating for Women Business Challenge” on Thursday, June 1.

“InnovateHER” is a national prize competition focused on products and services that help impact and empower the lives of women and families.

The local competition will take place at 6:30 p.m. at the Economic and Business Engagement Center, located at 920 Broadway, and is sponsored by The Bank of Missouri.

To meet the competition’s criteria, products or services must have a measurable impact on the lives of women and families, have the potential for commercialization, and fill a need in the marketplace. The competition is open to U.S. citizens and legal residents 18 years or older, including Southeast students.

The local winner will receive a $250 cash prize from The Bank of Missouri, a three-month LivePlan subscription, and assistance from the SBTDC in writing their business plan for the next round of competition.

The local winner will also advance to the semi-final round where they have a chance to compete for a spot in the final round and $70,000 in prizes, with $40,000 awarded for first place, $20,000 for second place, and $10,000 for third place.
