IT Validating Third Party Email Received Using Campus Email Addresses

Beginning on Nov. 13, the Department of Information Technology (IT) will begin validating email received from an @semo.edu address. The validation process is designed to detect email spoofing by ensuring the sender of the email is authorized to use the semo.edu address. This validation process will not impact email sent from Office 365. IT has been monitoring third party email services for several months and has composed a list of authorized services such as ExactTarget, SendGrid and SalsaLabs. Any email using an @semo.edu address which isn’t from an authorized service will be marked as “Junk.” If your office or department uses a third party service to send email on behalf of the University, please send an email to infotech@semo.edu with the name of the email service to ensure it is included in the authorized list.
