CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo.,

May 26, 2006 – A transmitter tower for KRCU 90.9 FM Radio at Southeast Missouri State University is scheduled to be razed next week.

The station and tower is located east of Henderson Street, just north of Broadway.

Set-up for the work will begin Tuesday, with actual demolition beginning Wednesday morning, at which time Henderson Street will be closed from Broadway to the south side of the entrance into parking lot 4. Lot 4 is located across from New Hall on the west side of Henderson, just north of Broadway. Lot 4 will remain closed until the project is completed. Parking lot 4 can be accessed from the north during this closure.

Dan Woods, general manager of KRCU Radio, said KRCU’s signal has been transmitted since March 2002 from a tower eight miles north of Cape Girardeau. The tower being razed on campus has served as an auxiliary or backup since that time.
