“Late Nite Catechism” return to the River Campus at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 5.
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Oct. 22, 2010 – Back by popular demand after a rousing success during the River Campus inaugural season, the hilarious “Late Nite Catechism” will return to the Donald C. Bedell Performance Hall located in the Cultural Arts Center at Southeast Missouri State University’s River Campus at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 5.
“Late Nite Catechism” has brought its nostalgic kick to every state in the United States as well as to Canada, the United Kingdom and Australia. “Late Nite Catechism” is an uproariously funny play that takes the audience back to its youth.
The irrepressible “Sister” teaches class to a roomful of “students” (the audience). Throughout the course of the class, the benevolent instructor rewards the “students” for correct answers with glow-in-the-dark rosaries and other nifty prizes. Naughty students may well find themselves on stage sitting in a corner reflecting on their actions. However, even the most reluctant “students” will be clamoring to get into this Sister’s “class.”
“I spent five years in Catholic school and got to know a lot of nuns. Many of them were just as strict, but only a few were as nice as ‘Sister,’ in ‘Late Nite Catechism,’” said Bob Cerchio, assistant director at Southeast’s Holland School of Visual and Performing Arts. “If you saw the performance in February, 2008, you know the depth of the actress’ knowledge and respect for her subject. It is, beyond a doubt, a wonderfully funny, poignant and inspirational evening.”
Tickets may be purchased at the River Campus Box Office, located in the Cultural Arts Center, 518 S. Fountain St., weekdays, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., or by calling (573) 651-2265.
