CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo.,
Oct. 21, 2005 – In an effort to help area families keep children safe and secure, Liberty Mutual will provide free child identification kits as part of Homecoming festivities at Southeast Missouri State University.
The kits will be available from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 29 at a Liberty Mutual table on the Academic Terraces. The service will be provided as part of a picnic planned in celebration of Academic Hall’s Centennial.
Those interested in the kits are asked to bring their child, grandchild, niece or nephew to receive one. The kit will include a fingerprinting ink strip and fingerprinting chart so children can have their fingerprints taken immediately. The kit also provides child safety tips, a growth chart, a personal information record, and a photo ID section.
Liberty Mutual is an affinity partner of the Southeast Alumni Association, offering the Group Savings Plus program which provides Southeast alumni reduced rates on auto, home and other insurance products. Affinity partner programs strengthen the Alumni Association and help it fulfill its mission of keeping alumni connected to and strengthening Southeast Missouri State University.
Liberty Mutual officials say more than 2,000 children a day were reported missing last year. Only 2 percent of abducted children had fingerprints and other personal information on file to aid authorities in their rescue, they say. Liberty Mutual officials says the child ID kits are a way of helping people live safer, more secure lives.
“Protecting the safety of a child is a concern for any parent, grandparent, aunt or uncle, or guardian,” said Jane Stacy, director of alumni services and development. “We greatly appreciate Liberty Mutual making these child identification kits available to our alumni.”
