CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Sept. 21, 2012 – The second annual “Men’s Choral Festival,” in which music will be learned in one day by male high school singers, will culminate in a concert scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Oct. 6 in the Donald C. Bedell Performance Hall at Southeast Missouri State University’s River Campus.
The event is free and open to the public.
The high school-aged male vocalists who make up this year’s Men’s Festival Choir will join the University Choir, the Chamber Choir, the men of the Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia and Conductor Peter J. Durow, director of choral activities and assistant professor of music at Southeast, for this concert.
This is the second annual festival of its kind at the University; last year, more than 60 high school students from nine high schools participated.
The purposes of the Men’s Festival Choir are multi-faceted and include the study of vocal technique, rehearsal, procedure and performance.
