Missouri State Archivist Speaking at Historic Preservation Association Annual Banquet

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo.,

April 5, 2007 – Dr. Kenneth Winn, state archivist of Missouri, will be the guest speaker at the annual banquet April 21 of the Historic Preservation Association of Southeast Missouri State University.

The event will be held in the historic corridors of Academic Hall at Southeast.

Winn directs the Records Services Division of the Office of Secretary of State. The Division includes the Missouri State Archives, the State Archives’ Local Records Program and the State Records Management Program.

The evening’s events will begin at 5 p.m. with tours of the dome of Academic Hall. A social half hour will begin at 6 p.m. Dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. An awards ceremony is planned for 7:30 p.m. Winn will speak at 8 p.m. A year in review and installment of officers for 2007-2008 is scheduled for 9 p.m.

Cost of the event is $18 per person. Checks should be made payable to “Historic Preservation Association” and sent to: Department of History, Attn: Kay Kimmich-Choate, One University Plaza, MS2960, Cape Girardeau, MO 63701. The reservation deadline is April 13.
