Nature Program to Begin Airing on KRCU 90.9 FM

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Oct. 17, 2003 — KRCU 90.9 FM will begin airing a series that deals with nature, wildlife, and other environmental topics on Saturday, Oct. 25 during “Weekend Edition.”

The program is titled “A Face of Conservation” and will air every Saturday morning during the 8 a.m. hour of “Weekend Edition.” The locally produced program uses a “feature story” style approach to interview farmers, educators, scientists and other experts in the field.

The program is hosted and produced by Phil Helfrich, a community outreach specialist with the Missouri Department of Conservation.  Helfrich is no stranger to radio; he worked on a comedy and variety show on KVNF public radio in Paonia, Colo., and he also produced a weekly conservation show for KTUI in Sullivan, Mo.  Helfrich also produces short conservation pieces for community television stations.

KRCU 90.9 FM is Cape Girardeau’s local Public Radio International affiliate and a National Public Radio member station, providing national and local programs that are both informative and entertaining. For more information about this series, visit http://www.krcu.org.
