The Catapult Creative House Student Studios will hold their November Artist of the Month exhibition titled “Experimentation” by Southeast Missouri State University student Heather Meadows opening Nov. 3, the First Friday in November.
The exhibition reception is scheduled for 5-9 p.m. Nov. 3 and is located behind the Letter Press Studio on the first floor of Catapult Creative House.
Using sculpture and printmaking as conduits, Meadows explores the nature of existence and the abstraction of spirituality. Each rearranged piece of metal or sculpted clay speaks to the essence of form and repetition as an integral part of life. In her prints, the use of representational imagery seemingly belies its connection to the sculpture. However, through mythological lore, the artist explores humanity’s place within the realm of creation. Together, this work helps create physical connections to the uniquely individual and myriad senses of spirituality.
Each month and as a part of a program to promote community-based and integrated art making, a student artist is chosen to exhibit their work at Catapult Creative House’s Student Studio Gallery. These exhibitions will showcase a range of work from individual artists that highlights their personal and professional artistic explorations as a part of the southeast Missouri art community. These artists explore the physicality of the human condition, its relationship to nature and the role of art in contemporary society. In addition to the exhibition, attendees are welcome to tour the studio spaces, view ongoing projects and engage with the artists.
In connection with the exhibition reception, the Catapult Creative House Student Studio artists and Catapult jewelry artists are proud to present their Studio Pop-Up Shop. In November, the Pop-Up retail space will present the opportunity for visitors to purchase one-of-a-kind prints, handcrafted jewelry and wearables as well as ceramics and additional unique works of art created by the participating artists.
